The first pony with the Wattles prefix was born in 1944 and registered with the Queensland Pony Stud Book which later became part of  The Australian Pony Stud Book. My parents continued to breed Australians ponies. In 1962 the first Welsh A stallion Retford Ribbonlight [Naroo Springlight-Retford Lady Craven] joined the stud. Ribbonlight carried many crosses of Greylight. The stud had become a family partnership. To continue our Welsh A line the stallions Rhyl Eclipse [Shiprods Moongleam(imp) - Stoatley Blue Moon(imp)]  and Rhyl Fine Art [Hollybush Joker(imp)- Monnow Michele(imp)] joined the stud. After an accident to Rhyl Fine Art he was replaced with the cream Rhyl Emblem [Hollybush Joker (imp)-Gredington Eto (imp)], on the death of Emblem the palomino Osory Tomahawk [Weston Park Talisman- Sherany Honesty] is now the resident Welsh A stallion

In 1971 to increase the height of the Australian Ponies the Australian stallion by the imported Welsh B Trefesgob Septimus[Cusop Sheriff-Bernice] joined the stud This was to start a love of the Welsh B. In 1977 the imported grey Welsh B colt Llanerch Fusilier [Llanerch Freeman-Llanerch Charity] joined the stud this influential sire produced many quality ponies with extravagant movement which have been successful in hand under saddle and in harness.
During a trip to Britian in 1978 we purchased the bay WelshB filly Bengad Gipsy[Kirby Cane Gauntlet-Tetworth Tinkerbell].This filly was soon joined by the imported mares Bridgehill Kizzy [Georgian Sinbad-Downland Diligence] and her Tetworth Copper King filly ,Llanerch Funfair by  Baledon Squire,Llanerch Charity by Llanerch Fiesta who was the dam of Fusilier, and their fillies by Downland Kestral, and Glenavon May Morning by Cusop Bank Note
The chestnut stallion Chamberlayne Crimson Beau(imp)[Solway Master Bronze-Chamberlayne Nell Gwyn] was added to the stud .The last imported mare to join the stud was Highlight June [Twyford Robin-Highlight Mayday] along with her Downland Kestral fillies. These mares bred many successful show ponies by Fusilier and Crimson Beau some of which were retained in the stud.
After sending mares to Owendale Page Boy we were so pleased with the stock we purchased Owendale Givoni [Baghurst William of Orange (imp) - Owendale Glamour]. He was joined by the bay colt LJS Diplomat [Downland Warrior (imp) - Weston Antonia imp)] and the buckskin colt Owendale Coconut[Croston Cufflinks (imp) - Hazlemere Rhayada}. With the exception of the imported Welsh B mares we have retained our home bred mares and bought in outcrosses with our stallions.
The stud has fifteen brood mares Welsh A & B and aims to breed quality ponies with good temperament and movement and up to height.
